Instalment payment by bank card is now available at the check-out and online in 10 or 20 instalments.

Croix, 21 September 2017 – Oney, a developer of innovative payment solutions, continues working on its solution that allows instalment payments to be made using bank cards. At the Paris Retail Week, Oney thus announced two major innovations to allow merchants to offer ever simpler shopping experiences that are tailored to consumer needs. Firstly, payment in three or four instalments is now available in-store from the payment terminal. Secondly, Oney will raise the number of instalments offered online from 3 to 20 with the customer choosing the amount of the monthly payment.

Instalment payments: an innovative solution that is popular with consumers

Rolled out to more than 200 e-tailers by Oney in France, instalment payments allow each retailer to offer increasingly smooth shopping experiences while meeting the new expectations of their customers. At present, over 1.5 million consumers are using Oney’s digital solution for payment in three or four instalments. Intuitive and easy to use, this new form of payment was thus used to finance over €400 million in online purchases in 2016 alone.

This 100% digital solution was designed to fit each person’s desires and budgets. Intuitive sign-up form, immediate order confirmation, secure payment…all of Oney’s expertise in payment security and creating a smooth shopping experience has thus been harnessed to create an innovative payment solution.

Two new developments to better serve consumers

At Paris Retail Week, Oney announced two new developments to enhance this payment solution:

  • Previously only offered to e-tailers, instalment payment is now available in-store. Retailers can now also give their customers the ability to pay in three or four instalments. When at the check-out, customers indicating they would like to pay in instalments insert their bank card and leave with the purchases just like with a traditional purchase. They then have 15 days in which to activate the instalment payment for their purchase, something that can be easily done on the Oney website. Oney commits to a 100% acceptance rate, once the electronic payment and anti-fraud checks are complete. For merchants, it is the ability to offer a stand-out service and increase the size of the average customer basket. A first on the market, the new solution will be piloted from October at JAQK, a men’s clothing brand selling online and in-store.
  • Online, instalment payments will be increased to 10 or 20 instalments to meet growing interest from consumers for such payment facilities. This new development will allow e-tailers to offer their customers a truly stand-out service, in particular when closing large purchases. 100% digital, it is designed to be user-friendly: Intuitive sign-up form, immediate order confirmation, secure payment…all of Oney’s expertise in payment security and creating a smooth shopping experience has thus been harnessed to create an innovative payment solution. Completely new, this solution is scheduled to be tested by an Oney partner by year-end.

There is strong customer demand for such solutions. We are very proud to be broadening our offering, both in-store and online. These innovations reflect our desire to offer retailers and e-tailers an ever-expanding range of payment solutions so that every consumer can enjoy new shopping experiences that are tailored to their needs at the time, are easy to use and secure.
