Oney, a European bank specialising in payment and consumer financing solutions, and TUI France, a subsidiary of the global tourism giant TUI Group, are pleased to announce the launch of a new financing solution. Rolled out in recent days, it enables TUI France’s customers to pay for their stays and trips in 3 or 4 instalments on the tour operator’s website tui.fr. Together, Oney and TUI France are enabling customers in France to go on holiday without breaking the bank.

According to an Oney survey conducted in February 2024 in conjunction with the CSA research institute, while more than two thirds of French consumers said they would continue to watch their spending in 2024, like in 2023 the majority of respondents said they would be devoting a large share of their budget to “treat” purchases, including travel. The January 2023 Digital & Payments barometer published by the BPCE Observatory noted, in particular, a 15% increase in travel sales in France in 2023, of which 70% online.

There are payment solutions available to help consumers go from an intent to purchase to an actual purchase in 2024, primarily split payment solutions, which give purchasing power a tremendous boost. 36% of French consumers see split payments as the best option to manage their budget. Moreover, with more than a third of French consumers surveyed by IFOP in June 2023 saying they could not go on holiday last summer, it is important to remember that this is an important societal issue.

In response to this, TUI France has enriched its payment services by teaming up with Oney, the leading provider of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) solutions in France. Oney’s solutions are currently used for one in every three split payments, and are offered by 40% of the Top 50 e-merchants in France. Since 9 April this year, customers of the TUI France website can choose to pay by credit or debit card in 3 or 4 instalments for holidays and trips sold by TUI France brands Club Marmara, Club Lookéa, Nouvelles Frontières and TUI Sélection. This 3- or 4-instalment option will soon be available in the 191 TUI Store travel agencies in France.

Christophe Fuss, CEO of TUI France: “We want to constantly renew our offer so that our customers can avail of a complete range of services for all their travel needs. This new payment service, available on the tui.fr website and soon also at our 191 TUI Stores throughout France, echos our mission to make holidays accessible to all, by giving consumers more flexibility and freedom with their travel plans.

Julien Cailleau, Deputy CEO of Oney: “We are proud to support TUI France in its development. This partnership illustrates our leadership in BNPL solutions in France and our ability to meet the requirements that large groups such as TUI France and their customers have when it comes to providing fluid and secure customer journeys. We have been playing a major role in the travel sector for more than 10 years, boasting expertise that is recognised by more than 50 players across all sales channels, be they agencies, e-commerce sites or call centres.
