Oney, the European bank specialising in payment and consumer finance, headquartered in Croix in the Nord department, has announced its support for the ‘La Chance aux Enfants’ association’s initiative to enable 15,000 young people in the Hauts-de-France region to attend events at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“La Chance aux Enfants” is a charity created in 2000, chaired by Gervais Martel, former President of RC Lens, and sponsored by Jean-Luc Reichmann, which supports children in vulnerable situations from the Hauts-de-France region. Since its creation, more than 50,000 children have benefited from the work carried out by La Chance aux Enfants and 2,000 sports, cultural and educational outings have already been organised.

On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the association has initiated a programme to enable 15,000 young people in the Hauts-de-France region, aged between 8 and 16, to attend a number of events. This initiative is in line with the association’s desire to involve as many people as possible in this global and popular event, to encourage people to take up sport, encourage volunteering and promote ecological, social and nutritional values.

Oney, as a Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Games via Groupe BPCE, has for several years been committed to promoting sport and wanted to support this initiative, which fully reflects the values it stands for: enthusiasm, respect and inclusion.

The children supported by Oney will have the joy and privilege of attending two events scheduled for Saturday 31 August 2024 during the Paralympic Games: Para table tennis at the South Paris Arena (from 10am to 3.15pm), and Goalball, a team sport reserved for visually impaired players, at the South Paris Arena (from 5.30pm to 8.15pm).

A locally-based bank committed to solidarity, diversity and inclusion, Oney has set up a cash sponsorship programme that will enable 100 children in the Hauts de France region to experience the Paralympic adventure. Oney, which has been offering its employees a salary rounding system for a number of years, will from the second half of 2024 also include ‘La Chance aux Enfants’ as one of the associations that employees can choose to support financially. This salary rounding system has been offered for the past two years to Oney’s 1,000 employees in France, via the MicroDon platform.

I’m very pleased and proud that Oney is supporting La Chance aux Enfants. This project is fully in line with our corporate social responsibility policy and contributes to our commitment to Paris 2024 as a Premium Partner. The organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in France is a once-in-a-lifetime event in which all French people should be able to take part. Through this operation, we are delighted to enable 100 children from our home region to take part in this major event for our country. At Oney, people are at the heart of what we do, and we make it a point of honour to ensure that our local community involvement is useful, particularly to those who need it most, and that our employees, through various actions, can contribute to a fairer, more humane and more sustainable world.
