Oney, a European bank specializing in payment and consumer financing, and TUI France, a subsidiary of the TUI Group, a leader in global tourism, announce the launch of a new financing solution. For several days now, TUI France customers can pay for their stays and trips in 3 or 4 installments in agency, via call centers, and on the travel operator’s website tui.fr By working together, Oney and TUI France enable the French to realize their travel projects while maintaining control over their budget.
According to a survey conducted in February 2024 by Oney, in partnership with the CSA institute, while more than 2 out of 3 French people intend to restrict their spending in 2024, a majority, as in 2023, still place significant importance on “pleasure purchases,” including travel. The Digital & Payments Barometer from the BPCE Observatory in January 2023 notably observed a 15% increase in travel sales in France in 2023, with 70% made online.
To achieve their purchasing intentions in 2024, consumer financing solutions – particularly installment payments – are becoming a true ally of purchasing power. Indeed, 36% of the French see this solution as the most interesting lever for better managing their budget. Furthermore, while more than a third of the French indicated that they could not go on vacation last summer, according to a survey conducted by Ifop in June 2023, access to vacations for all is a significant societal issue.
To meet these expectations, TUI France has decided to enrich its financing service offer by partnering with Oney, the French leader in “Buy Now Pay Later” (BNPL). Oney currently offers installment payments in three and supports 40% of the Top 50 e-commerce merchants. The solution has been available on the TUI France website since April 9, and since October 23 via call centers and in TUI France’s 191 travel agencies. Thanks to this deployment, customers of the leading tourism operator in France can now choose, at the time of credit card payment, to pay in 3 or 4 installments and enjoy the stays and trips offered by TUI France brands: Club Marmara, Club Lookéa, Nouvelles Frontières, and TUI Sélection.
Christophe Fuss, CEO of TUI France: “We constantly seek to renew ourselves to provide our customers with a complete offer tailored to all their travel desires. This new payment service, accessible on the website tui.fr and in the 191 ‘TUI stores’ travel agencies across France, perfectly aligns with our mission to make vacations accessible to all, offering more flexibility and freedom before departure”
Julien Cailleau, Deputy CEO of Oney: “We are proud to support TUI France in its development. This partnership illustrates our leadership in France in the BNPL field and our ability to meet the demands for fluidity and security in the purchasing journeys of large groups like TUI France and their customers. For over 10 years, we have played a significant role in the travel sector with recognized expertise from over 50 players across all sales channels: agencies, e-commerce sites, call centers”
This partnership reflects Oney’s expertise in supporting major players, particularly in the tourism sector, a field that demands advanced management tools and requires specific know-how. Oney stands out for its strong understanding of consumer behavior in the sector and its ability to offer omnichannel solutions, particularly for call centers, a service still rare in the installment payment market.
By providing a seamless and harmonized payment experience across all customer contact points, Oney once again asserts its leadership in the field of installment payments, while facilitating simpler, faster, and more secure purchasing journeys for consumers.
