The Card Innovation Awards: Automatric by Oney wins "2017 General Use Solution" prize

Yesterday evening saw Oney –expert in new shopping experiences– receive a prize at the 2017 Card Innovation Awards given out during a reception organised by Newsco Group. The Group was awarded the “2017 General Use Solution” trophy for Automatric, a payment solution that recognises registration plates. Developed in Spain and Portugal, Automatric is a solution which has reinvented the concept of mobile payment from your car, whether it is included as part of a range of connected services or used via a smartphone.

Launched in 2013 by Oney in Spain and Portugal at over 100 points of sale, including service stations and car parks, Automatric is a simple payment solution that recognises customers from their vehicle. Once their registration number has been identified, customers simply need to validate their payment by authenticating themselves using their pin code. They are then sent proof of payment to their smartphone.

Not only does Automatric increase consumers’ mobility, but it also meets a growing need for simple, fast and smooth payment solutions. It is already used at service stations and car parks to improve the customer experience, with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 76. It also offers good prospects for car washes, tolls, drive-throughs and even car hiring companies.

And another area for development is making the services available via the connected car. Technical tests have been carried out in this respect in 2017 and are currently being conducted with European manufacturers.
